
Foreign children's camps lost popularity in 2018. According to the Russian Union of Travel Industry, the number of bookings fell by another 11% compared to the previous year, Interfax reports.
The most popular regions for children's recreation This year, the Moscow Region, Krasnodar Krai, Leningrad Region, and Crimea became the leading destinations. The number of people seeking to spend their holidays in Russian children's camps increased by 81% in 2018. Experts attribute this to the significant weakening of the ruble.
Among the foreign offers, camps in Bulgaria (30% of all foreign trips sold in 2018), Turkey (16%) and Finland (10%) were in demand.
Children's vacations in Russia cost an average of 35,600 rubles, while abroad they cost almost twice as much—68,400 rubles. The cheapest trips were to the Leningrad Region (31,500 rubles), while the most expensive were to Crimea (43,200 rubles). Interestingly, demand for Crimean camps also fell by 111 TP3T. RST experts attribute this to the poor quality of services and infrastructure on the peninsula.
The best deals abroad this year were Turkish camps (averaging 44,500 rubles). Children's vacations in the Czech Republic and Greece were the most expensive (around 85,000 rubles).
It should also be noted that in 2017, the volume of sales of children's holidays abroad was 81% higher than in 2016.
