The fourth children's museum program festival, "Onfim Gathers Friends," will take place in Veliky Novgorod on Friday, Saturday, August 31, and September 1. The Novgorod Museum-Reserve press service reported this.  

All the most interesting things for festival guests The event will begin at 12:00 PM on September 1. More than 30 children's programs will be presented at the family festival "Fairy Tales in the Kremlin." A unique competition of museum storytellers will take place at the "Storyteller's Meadow." Guests from all over Russia, from Kaliningrad to Samara, will share authentic stories and legends about folklore and literary figures in an interactive format. And nearby, at the "Theater Meadow," children's groups will present excerpts from plays based on Novgorod legends.

The "Storehouse of Fairy Tales" will host workshops on making souvenirs from natural materials in the Ural style, as well as toys made from dough, wool, and felt, based on fairy tales and legends. The authors of "Tales from a Hatbox" will demonstrate papercraft techniques, and at the "Book Glade," they will learn how to construct from cardboard without scissors or glue.

Staff from the Valdai branch of the museum-reserve will demonstrate a mobile bell tower and share the secrets of bell-making. Renowned musician and psychotherapist Lera Largina will conduct a master class on fairy tale therapy for children and parents at an exhibition of Soviet toys from the museum's collection.

An interregional forum on "Fairy Tales in the Museum" will take place on Friday. Representatives from museums across Russia will speak and discuss the prospects for developing cultural and tourism programs based on the country's cultural heritage—fairy tales, legends, and epics. Participants include representatives from the Novgorod Region, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Tula, Bryansk, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad, and the Komi Republic.

As a reminder, the "Onfim Gathers Friends" children's museum program festival was first held in 2015, as part of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve and the 15th anniversary of the Children's Museum Center. Over the years, more than 60 museums from Russia and neighboring countries have participated.
