Sochi beaches declared unsafe

Rescue boats and lifeguards are missing from the beaches of "Dolphin," "Chernomorets," "Vzmorie," "Laguna," "Kolos," and "Svirsky." Furthermore, the inspection committee found a shortage of umbrellas, sun loungers, and paths leading to the sea.

As A. Pakhomova stated, Sochi "had the opportunity to become the best this year, but because of the work of these guys—now it's unknown." Beach leaseholders are strongly urged to install information boards and missing equipment, remove unsafe attractions, and hire professional lifeguards rather than seasonal workers. The commission will conduct another inspection soon to determine whether the issues have been addressed. Otherwise, the city administration will terminate the leases.

There are 191 beaches in the Olympic capital, 110 of which are managed by resorts and 81 are municipally owned. Before the start of the summer season, the city's coastal areas were leased out.
