Solo travelers are increasingly booking hotels in advance, according to Travel Daily Media.
According to online travel portal Travelzoo, the image of the solo traveler, ready to launch into a new adventure at any moment, may be fading away. Despite the growing number of solo travelers, they are increasingly seeking to protect themselves from any risks. A new Travelzoo study found that 72% of solo travelers book hotels well in advance. Moreover, 62% of these travelers prefer major brand hotels over "hut paradises" for safety reasons.
According to Travelzoo General Manager Joel Brandon-Bravo, it's encouraging to see more and more people wanting to explore the world alone. This is despite the fact that they view any risk as a challenge. Recent research shows that the reliability of early booking and choosing major hotel brands gives solo travelers confidence in enjoying the freedom and flexibility of solo travel, the expert noted.
According to Travelzoo, despite the popularity of large hotel chains, cost remains a determining factor for independent travelers. For a third of travelers, high single room rates are the biggest deterrent to booking a trip. Experts note that special rates for solo travelers could be an excellent way to encourage people to pack their bags again and again.
