Brazil airports tighten yellow fever controls

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, a number of airlines operating in Brazil have tightened controls over the presence of an international certificate of vaccination against yellow fever for passengers leaving the country upon check-in/boarding a flight to countries included in the list World Health Organization. According to Rospotrebnadzor, three southwestern states have recorded an increase in cases. Thus, from mid-January to January 22 of this year, 47 cases were registered in the state of Minas Gerais, 25 of which were fatal; in the state of Sao Paulo - 36 and 25 cases, respectively; in the state of Rio de Janeiro - 20 and 8, respectively.

On January 16, 2018, WHO issued travel advisory warning travelers not to visit the above-mentioned Brazilian states without proper vaccination.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that individuals planning private or business trips to Brazil or transiting through the country get vaccinated against yellow fever in advance and have the appropriate international certificate with them.

The Federal Tourism Agency recommends that Russian citizens planning trips to Brazil take this information into account.

Rostourism also calls on tour operators selling tours to Brazil to inform their clients about the need to have an international certificate of vaccination against yellow fever.
