Croatia becomes a year-round destination

According to the eVisitor system, from January to the end of May, Croatia was visited by 3.6 million tourists (+ 19%), who spent 11.6 million nights (+ 24%) in the country. Of this flow, 2.9 million were foreign tourists (+ 22%), who spent 9.9 million nights (+ 27%), while domestic Croatian tourist flow increased by 10%.

"Croatian tourism has achieved an increase in tourist traffic of more than 35 percent compared to the same period two years ago. This means that we, together with the tourism industry, are doing everything right," said the country's tourism minister, Gari Cappelli.

According to him, during the first five months of this year, the majority of overnight stays were made in Istria (3.4 million nights), and 1.8 million nights in the Kvarner and Split-Dalmatia counties.

Next comes Dubrovnik-Neretva County with 1.4 million overnight stays, Zadar with 925,000 overnight stays, Zagreb (820,000), Šibenik-Knin (498,000). On the mainland, excluding Zagreb, 334,000 arrivals (+ 17%) and 693,000 overnight stays (+ 15%) were recorded. The most frequent stays of tourists were in Krapina-Zagorje (132,000 overnight stays), the regions of Karlovac (102,000), Osijek-Baranja, Međimurje and Vukovar.

At a national level, the most active markets during the first five months were Germany (2.5 million nights), Austria (1.1 million nights), Slovenia (913,000) and the UK (643,000).

Last May, the country recorded 30% more guests than last year - 1.7 million arrivals and 6.5 million overnight stays (+39%).

Between 30 May and 3 June 2018, Croatia was visited by 380,000 tourists (1.5 million overnight stays). The main markets during these days were Germany, Austria, Croatia, the United Kingdom and Slovenia.
