Pacific Island of Palau Has Abolished Visas for Russians

The Pacific Ocean nation of Palau has abolished visas for Russian tourists. The agreement came into effect on December 27, TASS reports.

Russia and the Republic of Palau have introduced a visa-free regime between the countries. Now Russian tourists will be able to continuously stay in the island state in the Philippine Sea without a visa for 30 days. The innovation does not apply to those Russians who intend to come to Palau for work or study, as well as for permanent residence.

The tropical country of Palau, which belongs to Micronesia, is located north of Indonesia, 800 kilometers east of the Philippines. In total, Palau includes more than 300 islands. The republic is popular with tourists and divers from all over the world due to its unique nature. Its tropical gardens and forests are home to a huge number of exotic flowers, as well as various types of orchids. Biologists also call Palau an underwater wonder of the world for its marine wealth. Almost 1,500 species of tropical fish and rare mammals are found in the coastal waters. The tourist season in the region traditionally lasts from November to May, after which the rains come.

There are no direct flights between Moscow and the cities of Palau. You can get here with transfers in Asian countries. For example, a roundtrip flight via Seoul will cost 139,146 rubles. Travel time one way will be about 20 hours. Such flights are operated by Aeroflot and Korean Air.
