Delta Tests Free Internet on Flights

American airline Delta is testing free Wi-Fi access on select flights. In May, the tests are being conducted daily on several dozen flights, with the list changing daily, according to Travel.ru.

Therefore, the chances of getting on a test flight are slim—less than 1%. Passengers on such flights are notified in advance via email. Testing takes place on both domestic and international flights.

Delta stated that several test phases will be required before a final decision is made on the timing and format of introducing complimentary access. Feedback from passengers on test flights will be taken into account.

Currently, the company offers free messaging on all flights, but does not allow the sharing of images and videos. According to surveys, only 20% passengers are willing to pay any amount for in-flight online access, and only primarily on long-haul flights.
