Oman Air has introduced a free overnight stay in Muscat during the summer for economy class passengers transiting through the Omani capital on its flights. The offer is valid from June 1 to September 30 for passengers traveling from Europe (including Russia) to East Asian countries (Guangzhou, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Bangkok, Jakarta) or vice versa, reports Travel.ru's own correspondent.
The promotion works a bit oddly. Passengers are asked to first book a hotel (the 328-room Grand Millennium Muscat in downtown Muscat) by filling out a special form on the Oman Air website. Only after confirming availability can they purchase their flight. It's unclear what, if any, cancellation mechanism will be in place for those customers who ultimately fail to purchase their flight tickets.
This promotion applies only to passengers transiting through Oman on a single ticket between Europe and Asia during the four summer months and does not apply to customers who have purchased a direct flight to Muscat itself. This promotion applies to double rooms for one night; upon check-in, passengers must present their airline ticket and boarding pass. If they wish to stay in Muscat for a longer period, passengers can book additional nights at the same or another hotel in the city at standard rates.
Previously, similar offers were only available to First and Business Class passengers. Oman Air has been operating daily flights from Muscat to Moscow since the end of 2018. Visas to Oman can now be obtained online.
