217 hotels in Crimea have been assigned stars, according to the republic's Minister of Resorts and Tourism, Vadim Volchenko.

“217 accommodation facilities with a total capacity of over 17,000 rooms have already been classified, including the following categories: 5 stars – 8 “Objects; ‘4 stars’ – 38 objects; ‘3 stars’ – 85 objects; ‘2 stars’ – 37 objects; ‘1 star’ – 6 objects; ‘no stars’ – 43 objects,” Vadim Volchenko said, RIA Novosti reports.
He also noted that all explanations regarding the mandatory hotel classification procedure will be given at the "Open Crimea" forum, which will open in Simferopol on April 5 and last two days.
"Starting July 1, administrative liability will be imposed in Crimea for operating without a hotel category certificate for properties with more than 50 rooms, and starting January 1, 2020, for properties with 15 to 50 rooms," the minister added.
As a reminder, the law on mandatory hotel classification in Russia was adopted in February of last year. According to the document, classification was to become mandatory for hotels with more than 50 rooms starting July 1, 2019, for hotels with more than 15 rooms starting January 1, 2020, and for all other hotels starting January 1, 2021.
We would also like to add that, starting January 1, 2020, hotels will be prohibited from providing services without a certificate of classification. Violation of this law will entail administrative liability for hotels with more than 50 rooms. Violators will also be subject to a fine of 30,000 to 50,000 rubles if their advertising uses false information about a hotel's classification.
In addition, it was previously reported that the Ministry of Economic Development has opened a hotline for hoteliers, where they can ask questions about hotel classification.
