AtlasGlobal has suspended flights

Turkish airline AtlasGlobal (AtlasJet) announced it will suspend flights from at least November 26 until December 21. The reason for the suspension is chronic funding problems, reports Travel.ru.

The carrier, which served routes including Istanbul-Moscow and Antalya-Moscow, as well as a number of charter flights to Turkish resorts, had been experiencing financial problems for about two years. As a result, last year the company drastically reduced the number of flights, destinations, and aircraft in its fleet.

However, all this failed, and now flights have been grounded. Officially, the grounding was declared temporary, with the goal of finding new sources of funding. However, experience shows that airlines are rarely able to resume flights after such groundings.

AtlasGlobal has not yet announced what to do for passengers who still hold its tickets. In addition to its parent Turkish airline, its Ukrainian subsidiary, AtlasJet Ukraine, has also been grounded.
