Azerbaijan Airlines and Sabre Continue Successful Cooperation

Sabre Corporation (NASDAQ: SABR), a leading provider of technology for the global travel and tourism industry, today announced the extension of its partnership with Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL).

Thanks to the extension of the partnership between the two companies, travel agents and corporations connected to the Sabre marketplace will continue to benefit from access to the carrier’s best fares and products. This collaboration validates Sabre’s position as a technology provider supporting direct and indirect channels so travelers can purchase airline tickets and ancillaries where they want to shop.

Azerbaijan’s tourism market is showing one of the fastest growth rates in the region. In 2018, the country was visited by more than 2.8 million tourists, which is 6% more than the tourist flow in the previous year. In the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report for 2017, Azerbaijan moved up 13 notches compared to 2015, showing the best dynamics of the competitiveness index among all countries in the world. As the national carrier of Azerbaijan, AZAL plays an important role in this success. Today, the airline, founded in 1992, has 23 aircraft in its fleet and operates a route network that covers key cities in Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia and Europe, as well as long-haul destinations in Asia and North America.

Sabre and AZAL have had a successful partnership since 2006, when the carrier first selected Sabre as its global distribution partner. Despite growing demand for its domestic and international flights, the airline remains focused on providing the best quality service to its passengers.

“We are pleased to continue our successful partnership with Azerbaijan Airlines,” said Alessandro Ciancimino, Sabre’s vice president of aviation business in EMEA. “The airline plays a key role in the dynamic development of the travel industry in the region. Sabre’s advanced technology will help the carrier increase profitability and improve the quality of service. We are pleased to provide distribution of AZAL content through our leading marketplace, the platform of choice for more than 425,000 agents worldwide.”

“AZAL’s strategy is aimed at further expanding our international customer base,” said Jamil Manizade, CEO of Azerbaijan Airlines. “We are confident that our partnership with Sabre will provide us with global reach and innovative solutions to achieve our goals and serve our international customers.”

The Sabre marketplace plays a vital role in the travel industry, enabling the efficient marketing and sale of airline fares, hotel rooms, rental cars, rail tickets and other travel products through agents and corporations around the world. It is one of the largest marketplaces in the world, with annual transactions exceeding $$120 billion.
