Russia ranked sixth among Bulgaria's key tourist markets, according to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), citing the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism has released statistics on foreign tourist flow. For example, For the third year in a row, more and more travelers are heading to Bulgaria. Last year, the number of foreign tourists arrived by 4.41 TP3T (9.3 million) more than in 2017.
"For the first time, foreign tourist visits to Bulgaria have surpassed the 9 million mark, reaching record levels for the past two years. This result is an incentive and a starting point for even more active policies to promote Bulgaria as a tourist destination," said Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova.
At the end of the year, Romania was the leader in inbound tourism to Bulgaria, with over 1.3 million arrivals. Greece and Germany took second and third place, with 1.12 million and over 850,000 tourists, respectively. Turkey and Macedonia also made the top five. Russia ranked sixth in inbound tourism to the country, with 511,000 arrivals (101,000 more than in 2017).
According to the Association, tourist flow to Bulgaria decreased in connection with the 2018 World Cup due to competition from other destinations and the ruble exchange rate.
