Study: Russians plan their trips in advance in 65% cases

The travel service Svyaznoy Travel surveyed 35,000 Russians to find out how far in advance they begin preparing for upcoming trips.

According to respondents, the majority – 37% of all respondents – are starting to prepare for vacation In advance, six months or even a year, citing a love of planning every detail. Another 28% begin their preparations a month before their trip: they research the city or country they plan to visit, read and save notes, create an optimal route, and follow it. Exactly 20% of people surveyed by Svyaznoy Travel don't prepare for their trip at all, preferring to trust their intuition and navigate the destination. The remaining 15% respondents spend 1-2 days planning, downloading maps, guidebooks, or other mobile apps.

"Each approach has its merits. On the one hand, long-term planning allows you to significantly reduce costs and carefully plan your vacation. On the other hand, you can successfully book a last-minute tour, time it perfectly, and set off on your journey, choosing leisure options on-site. In both cases, it's important to constantly monitor travel offers and book them as quickly as possible. Depending on the destination, it's more efficient to do this independently or through a tour operator," emphasizes Andrey Osintsev, Director of Svyaznoy Travel.
