Barcelona residents are against drunk tourists

Residents of central Barcelona are protesting against so-called "drunk routes" offered to tourists by a number of companies. On these tours, visitors to the Catalan capital are expected to visit several bars and other establishments where they are offered a variety of drinks. These excursions often end in scandal.

According to Spain in Russian, "drunk tours" are organized by private companies that have agreements with establishment owners that provide them with substantial discounts. Such tours have become a real problem for mass tourism in Barcelona. Invitations to such excursions are handed out right on the streets, and there are quite a lot of people willing to participate in the "drunk tour."

In Barcelona's Ciutat Vella district, these routes have already been banned, but residents of other parts of the city center are outraged by the drunken tours and have filed numerous petitions with the authorities. If participants in these tours disturb public order, their organizers, as well as pub and bar owners, face hefty fines. However, city authorities plan to soon ban the "drunk tours" entirely, citing them as a public danger.
