HomeToGo, the largest metasearch engine, conducted a study to determine the most popular New Year's destinations among Russians. Russian destinations top the list, while Finland and Estonia are the most popular foreign destinations.

Celebrating New Year while traveling is becoming increasingly popular among Russians, with Russian cities being their top choice.
According to HomeToGo, for New Year's 2018, Russians are looking for vacation rentals in the Krasnodar Krai (Sochi and Krasnaya Polyana), the Moscow region, and Moscow.
Karelia ranks fourth, and Finland rounds out the top five. Sochi is one of the most popular New Year's destinations thanks to its mild climate, developed infrastructure, and the opportunity to combine cultural recreation with skiing.
In its previous study, HomeToGo ranked Krasnaya Polyana 5th in its ranking of the most affordable ski resorts in Europe.

The Moscow region is traditionally a favorite vacation spot for Muscovites during the New Year. A huge selection of holiday cottages and its proximity to Moscow make this region an excellent place to celebrate the New Year.
Those seeking beautiful, unspoiled nature and a winter idyll, combined with comfort and convenient transportation, turn to Karelia and Finland. These destinations are especially popular among residents of St. Petersburg due to their proximity. Finally, many Russians take advantage of the opportunity to visit the Russian capital during the long New Year holidays.
