Authorities on Hawaii's Big Island have ordered the evacuation of residents from the Puna area, located near the lava flow from the erupting Kilauea volcano, Interfax reports, citing the Associated Press.

According to the agency, lava from the volcano has already destroyed more than 40 residential buildings and large cracks have formed on roads.
Last week, local emergency services evacuated approximately 2,000 people, mostly residents of Leilani Estates.
The US Geological Survey reported that approximately 20 volcanic fissures with lava flowing from them have been identified so far.
The volcano has been exhibiting increased seismic activity since early May. Kilauea is considered one of the most active volcanoes in the world. The volcano's elevation is 1,247 meters above sea level.
