All-inclusive hotels in Ibiza and Mallorca to stop offering unlimited alcohol

The authorities of the Balearic Islands (Spain) continue to fight against "drunk" tourism and antisocial behavior of hotel guests. From next year, all-inclusive hotels located on two popular islands - Ibiza and Mallorca - are expecting changes.

According to the government's conditions, hotels will have to remove unlimited alcohol, leaving free alcoholic drinks only during lunches and dinners in restaurants. Guests will have to pay for other alcohol, including beer. At the same time, free alcohol will be served in restaurants only by waiters and only in portions. If a guest wants to drink outside the restaurant and outside of lunch or dinner, he will have to order through a waiter and also pay for it. Free alcohol will even be removed from minibars in rooms.

As reported by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, hoteliers in Ibiza and Majorca believe that the new rules will deprive them of a significant number of clients who are used to not limiting themselves to alcohol throughout the day, and they fear that young Britons and Germans, deprived of alcohol, will choose other holiday destinations. Also, according to hotel owners, due to the reduction in alcohol supply, they will have to seriously adjust their pricing policy.
