A tropical storm is approaching popular tourist resorts in Thailand, the kingdom's meteorological department reported.
As noted by the department, heavy rains with strong winds are forecast in the provinces of Surat Thani on January 3-4, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Krabi, Trang, and Satun. On January 4-5, similar weather conditions are expected in the provinces of Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satut, Interfax reports.
"Wave heights in the Andaman Sea can reach 2-3 meters at times, and 3-5 meters in the Gulf of Thailand," the department clarified.
