Crimean authorities have partially restricted access for tourists to Mount Ai-Petri: due to severe traffic congestion on the snow-covered road, only passengers in SUVs will be able to reach the popular attraction.

“According to information received by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, "Everyone, including those in unsuitable vehicles, was entering the hazardous section of the road en masse. Yesterday, during the massive accumulation of traffic, traffic jams developed on the hazardous section. Rescuers were literally forced to pull cars apart. Despite the road being treated with reagents, ice and snowdrifts formed in some areas, significantly complicating traffic, especially after dark. People stuck on this section simply began to panic, many with children in their cars," said Sergey Shakhov, Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea, according to the ministry's press service.
As a result, according to him, on January 3, a barrier and traffic police posts were installed to stop traffic on the specified section of the road: "Thus, traffic on the specified 40-kilometer section is closed to all motor vehicles, with the exception of all-terrain vehicles equipped with anti-skid devices," the Minister reported.
