For the upcoming holidays, independent tourists are reorienting themselves abroad

For the upcoming February and March holidays, the flow of independent Russian tourists abroad has increased compared to last year, according to data from the online travel service Biletix. The share of international air ticket sales between February 21 and 25 over the year it increased from 31% to 37%, and in the period from March 6 to 10 – from 33% to 35%.

 

 

However, the most popular tourist destinations for the February and March holidays vary. The top five most popular international destinations for this period in February include Yerevan, Chisinau, Minsk, Prague, and Tbilisi. For the March holidays, the top five are Prague, Istanbul, Bali (Denpasar), Tel Aviv, and Barcelona.

Among the most popular domestic destinations, there have been virtually no changes: in February, the largest number of tourists plan to vacation in Moscow, Sochi, Mineralnye Vody, Simferopol, and Krasnodar. In March, the largest number of tourists plan to vacation in Moscow, Sochi, Simferopol, Kaliningrad, and Mineralnye Vody.

Airfare prices for the upcoming holidays have increased. The average roundtrip ticket price for the February holidays for domestic destinations increased from 6,183 to 7,030 rubles (+131 TP3T), and for international destinations from 14,439 to 15,407 rubles (+71 TP3T). For the March holidays, the average roundtrip ticket price within Russia increased from 5,986 to 7,321 rubles (+221 TP3T), and for international destinations from 15,974 to 19,834 rubles (+241 TP3T).
