On December 11, 2019, the Guiding Star Tourism and Hotel Industry Awards ceremony will take place at the Helikon Opera in Moscow. This year, the awards, organized by the Moscow City Tourism Committee, will be presented to for the 20th anniversary.

Over its two decades of existence, the Guiding Star Award has earned a reputation as a prestigious accolade and has become a highly anticipated event in the tourism industry. Nominees include both established companies and brands, as well as those just beginning their journey to success. The Guiding Star laureates are the best representatives of the hospitality industry.
On December 11, the Helikon Opera will host a gala ceremony to announce the capital's best hotels, restaurants, and cafes, transport companies, and inbound tourism companies, as well as the best cultural and leisure projects, children's facilities, media outlets, online apps, festivals, and events. For the anniversary ceremony, the organizers have chosen a vibrant and unusual format—a literary and theatrical project. The host of the ceremony will be popular writer and journalist Alexander Tsypkin. Co-hosts will be renowned theater and film actors Anna Mikhalkova and Evgeny Stychkin.
The winners of the 20th anniversary award are selected in 15 nominations, which are grouped into five categories: Accommodation, Leisure, Gastronomy, Comfort and Experiences, Media, and special nominations. The nominees are evaluated by an organizing committee and an expert jury, which selects the best of the best. This year, the jury included 32 people, including Heads of restaurateur and hotelier associations, representatives of popular travel services and media businesses, and professionals from the capital's tourism and hospitality industry.
The jury members included Sergey Shpilko, President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, Maya Lomidze, Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), Alexander Osipov, President of the Association of Guides-Interpreters, Tour Guides and Tour Managers, Vladislav Myakota, General Director of JSC Hotel "National", Igor Shulinsky, publisher of the magazine "Moskvich Mag", Mikhail Lopatin, founder of the Restaurant Navigator rating, Pavel Trekhleb, Director of the Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure, and others, will examine each of the selected nominees in detail. This methodology will ensure the most objective assessment of the competition participants' performance.
When selecting the winners, the jury will be guided not only by the standards of tourist services, but also take into account the specifics of each individual nominee: the location of the facility, infrastructure, staff qualifications, economic and other indicators.
In addition to the expert council, city residents will also make their choice: on the Active Citizen project website, Moscow residents can vote for the best in the categories "Cultural Moscow," "Festival Moscow," and "The Best for Children!" Voting will run until December 5.
