Spending by Russian tourists in Greece increased by almost 70%

Russian tourists spent €6 million in Greece from January to March 2019, €69.81 million more than the same period last year.

 

 

“According to the Bank of Greece, in the first quarter of 2019, tourism industry revenues grew by 40% (+212 million), this is "This increase is due to increased traveler spending. For example, from January to March, British tourists spent €32 million (+60.81% of total spending), French tourists spent €12 million (+40.71% of total spending), and Russians spent €6 million (+69.81% of total spending) in Greece," reports the Argophilia portal.

The publication also notes that in March, tourist flow to the country increased by 9.1% (773 thousand people), but there are also countries from which fewer travelers come to Greece.

"Tourist flow from Germany in March amounted to 70 thousand (-20.8%), France - up to 30 thousand (+47.7%), the number of tourists from Britain in March was 22.8% more (51 thousand), up to 60 thousand travelers came from the USA (+66.1%), but the largest increase in tourist flow was recorded from Russia - 11 thousand tourists, which is one and a half times more than for the same period last year (+151.7%)," writes the Argophilia portal.
