The investigative bodies of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the city of Moscow are conducting a pre-investigation check into the fact that a tour operator provided services that did not meet safety requirements.

“The investigation has received information "On November 26, 2019, a bus carrying 39 Russian tourists collided with a truck in the Dominican Republic. As a result of the accident, the Russian citizens sustained injuries of varying severity. The victims are currently hospitalized for the necessary medical care," the agency's press service reported.
It is noted that the investigation is carrying out the necessary verification measures aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
"As part of the investigation, investigators will conduct a legal assessment of the incident to determine whether it constitutes a crime under Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements). Based on the investigation's findings, a procedural decision will be made," the Investigative Committee added.
As a reminder, a bus carrying 39 Russian tourists collided with a truck and overturned on its way to the airport in the Dominican Republic. According to the Russian Embassy, no Russians were killed, but several were hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries.
