Snowfall in Crimea: Tourists are urged to avoid mountain trips.

Crimean authorities have urged tourists to refrain from traveling to the mountains by private vehicle. A corresponding notice was published on the website of the republic's Ministry of Emergency Situations.

 

 

As the head of the department, Sergei Shakhov, noted, due to the loss of a large Due to the amount of snow in the peninsula's mountainous areas, drivers are unable to navigate the snowdrifts. He also emphasized that the risk of avalanches remains in the mountains. "According to meteorologists, avalanches are expected in the Crimean Mountains today and tomorrow. We strongly recommend that tourists refrain from mountain trails," the minister said.

Sergey Shakhov also recalled that on December 4, four snow avalanches totaling 800 cubic meters were recorded on the Yalta-Ai-Petri-Bakhchisaray road, resulting in the suspension of traffic. Approximately 100 vehicles and 300 people remained stranded on the Ai-Petri plateau and were unable to descend the road. KRYM-SPAS rescuers evacuated them to safer locations. The road was not fully cleared until the morning.
