The OneTwoTrip service has compiled a rating of countries in which Russian travelers most often book cars. The top three leaders for 2017 were Italy, Spain and Germany — these three countries accounted for about 40% of the total number of bookings.
Join the number Germany's leaders were not hindered by the fact that it also became the country with the most expensive car rentals - a day of using a car here costs on average almost 2.8 thousand rubles. The cheapest car rental is in Croatia - 1.4 thousand rubles.
The most popular car brands among Russian travelers were Volkswagen, Ford, BMW, Fiat and Opel. 31% OneTwoTrip users booked a car for 1 to 4 days, another 31% for 5 to 8 days, 27% used the rental for more than a week, and 11% for more than two.
"The main advantage of renting a car compared to public transport is that it gives you the opportunity to create a personal route, and not just get from point A to point B. A car may be the only way to visit interesting locations, or the only way to do it in one day if there are no convenient routes in the public transport schedule. The rating is headed by countries with a large territory and a significant number of interesting tourist sites, often located at comfortable distances for traveling by car. The average rental cost in 15 countries is 2,000 rubles per day, which allows even tourists with a limited budget to use this method of travel. It is also interesting that Russian travelers rent a car for quite a long period, probably using it to fully explore European countries," Arkady Gines, Director of Development for the OneTwoTrip service, comments on the rating.
