Aeroflot Airlines is running a discount promotion on Aeroflot Bonus award tickets on virtually all routes. In most cases, a roundtrip award ticket will require a quarter fewer miles than usual, reports a correspondent. Travel.ru.
Discounts on award tickets are valid until December 27th only on the company's website. Flights are available from January 15th to April 20th (return flights until April 27th). Blackout dates for international flights: outbound from Russia: February 16th to 23rd and March 7th to 9th, and return flights: February 24th to 26th and March 10th to 12th. The promotion is not valid on routes to Bishkek from Moscow and St. Petersburg. The minimum stay at the destination is 24 hours, the maximum is one month. Mileage refunds, ticket exchanges, and non-refundable fees are not permitted.
In addition, you'll need to pay fees, which typically amount to around 3,300-3,600 rubles in economy class on direct routes within Russia, around 7,000 rubles on short international flights (several times less on flights to the CIS), and around 15,000 rubles on long-haul flights. Fees are higher on connecting flights (the total fees apply to all segments of the journey).
As a reminder, Aeroflot also reduced the price of one-way award tickets by a third in March. This will likely lead to increased demand for award tickets and enhance the appeal of the Aeroflot Bonus program.
When purchasing any tickets on Aeroflot's website (as with almost all other Russian carriers), keep in mind that the airline includes insurance with your ticket by default. This practice, prohibited in the European Union, can result in a loss of 300 rubles on each ticket. To avoid falling victim to this insurance scam, in most cases, click the "In order" field on the insurance selection page during the booking process.
If a passenger has nevertheless fallen into a trap and paid for unnecessary insurance, it can still be cancelled. In this case, before the start of the flight, you should notify the airline about the cancellation of the insurance service and demand a refund for the insurance.
