On December 23, the Ice Sculpture Festival exhibition will open in central St. Petersburg. As per tradition, the exhibition will be located on the grounds of the Peter and Paul Fortress.
According to TASS, 180 tons of ice were used to create the sculptures this year. The festival's focal point will be a 7-meter-tall sculpture, the design of which is currently being kept secret. Throughout the festival, the ice sculpture tent will be maintained at subzero temperatures, and the exhibits will be illuminated in various colors day and night.
Architectural symbols of St. Petersburg, including the griffins from the Bank Bridge, the Atlanteans of the New Hermitage, and others, will occupy a special place at the festival exhibition. Fans of the series "Game of Thrones" will be in for a surprise this year: a sculpture dedicated to the White Walkers.
In addition to the figures of Father Frost and Snegurochka, visitors will be greeted at the entrance by Hachiko, the faithful dog, as the dog is the symbol of the coming year. Visitors can make a wish and freeze a coin next to him for good luck.
The festival runs until February 4. Tickets are 450 rubles for adults and 350 rubles for children 5 and older. Younger visitors are admitted free.
