At the Nizhneangarsk airport, an AN-24 passenger airliner made a hard landing, skidded off the runway, crashed into a building, and caught fire. Two people died, the Nizhneangarsk airport administration reported.

According to Interfax, two members were killed. The crew consisted of a captain and a flight engineer. 42 passengers survived, 14 of whom sought medical attention. The plane was en route from Nizhneangarsk to Ulan-Ude.

According to preliminary data, one of the airliner's engines failed during landing; the plane landed with mixed thrust, without reverse thrust, skidded off the runway, crashed into a building, and then caught fire.

It is also noted that this incident will be investigated by a commission from the IAC (Interstate Aviation Committee) jointly with the Federal Air Transport Agency.

As a reminder, on May 5, an Aeroflot Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft, en route from Moscow to Murmansk, caught fire during an emergency landing at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport.
