A knights' festival will be held in Crimea

From July 13 to August 19, the "Genoese Helmet" knightly festival will be held in Crimea. As per tradition, the ancient fortress in Sudak will serve as the venue for this colorful historical celebration.

The festival will take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, RIA Novosti reports. The first month is dedicated to five-on-five group knightly battles, while August is dedicated to the staged mass battle "Bugurt." During the festival, a artisan's town with potters and blacksmiths will be open on the fortress grounds, and visitors can enjoy medieval entertainment, including axe and dagger throwing, and knightly combat.

Hundreds of knights—members of reenactment clubs from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, and Hungary—come to the festival every year.
