On September 29, Nizhny Novgorod will host the "Nights over the Volga" travel festival. The program includes free tours, city quests, film screenings, master classes, and talks by renowned travelers, where you can learn about meaningful travel and where to go. In Russia, going for extreme tourism, how to share your travel experiences, and why you should travel along the Volga.

The festival's central venue will be the "Festival" space (4 Rozhdestvenskaya St.). It will feature a Volga souvenir market and a lecture hall featuring speakers including Timur Yusupov, creator of the Telegram travel channel "Mir, Gamarjoba," Nikita Zhorov, founder of the "Degrees of Discovery" project, aerial photographer Maxim Tarasov, and many others. The festival will also feature the premiere of the film "Nights over the Volga: Road Show," the result of a two-week journey through the cities of the Volga region by the team of the Youth Tourism Center.
Irina Maslova, urban explorer and author of the "Urban Expeditions" project, is responsible for the festival's excursion program.
"This will be a grand celebration of travel and bright ideas. Most importantly, festival guests will enjoy free tours with the city's best guides. Vladimir Pegov, founder of the Nizhny Novgorod Constructivism community, will discuss the bold projects of past architects, showcase unique examples of avant-garde architecture, and recreate the creative atmosphere in which our predecessors lived, dreaming of changing the city for the better. All tours are available upon pre-registration on the festival website," explains Grigory Pozdeev, Program Director of the "Nights over the Volga" festival.
The festival will conclude with the "Nights over the Volga" awards ceremony, which will recognize the best student projects from across Russia aimed at developing tourism in the region, and a grand open-air performance featuring Nizhny Novgorod artists.
The festival is organized by the Center for Youth Tourism and the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering with grant support from the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs.
"Among our students, there are many who have already taken the first steps to make our region a better and more interesting place. For them, 'Nights over the Volga' is another chance to tell about themselves, their project, and gain experience from participants from across the country. We are pleased to be organizing the festival," notes NNGASU Rector Andrey Lapshin.
