From September 10th to 16th, the 19th International Balloon Festival "Caucasian Mineral Waters – Pearl of Russia 2017" will be held in Pyatigorsk (Stavropol Krai). This year, 15 hot air balloons will take to the skies. Crews from Russia, Bashkiria, Austria and Poland will take part in the competition.
According to Interfax, citing the Pyatgorsk administration, this festival is currently the oldest event of its kind in the country. Every year, for a week, dozens of colorful balloons decorate the Pyatigorsk skyline—a vibrant spectacle that draws thousands of local residents and tourists.
The festival will also feature the third Russian Air Biathlon Cup, a new type of aeronautics sport in Russia.
