No new regions will be included in the pilot resort tax project in the near future. This was announced by Zarina Doguzova, head of the Federal Agency for Tourism, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

“This is a complex issue and attitude towards it "The situation is ambiguous. There are regions that were very keen to participate in this pilot project, and there are regions that are already participating. We will not rush into making decisions on introducing new pilot regions. We need to thoroughly study the experience of those regions where resort taxes are already in place and carefully consider how we implement them, what effect they have, and whether they have had a positive impact. Only then will we make a decision on additional regions where resort taxes can be introduced," she said, according to TASS.
As a reminder, a resort tax law was passed in Russia in July 2017. This law, introduced on a trial basis from 2018 to 2022, provides for collecting fees from tourists for the use of infrastructure in the Altai, Krasnodar, and Stavropol Krais, as well as Crimea.
