Western Greece expects record tourism figures in the summer-autumn season of 2018. This was stated by the head of Western Greece Apostolos Katsifaras during a press conference dedicated to the region's tourism plans, ANA-MPA reports.
As we reported earlier, on 11 At a regional conference in Central Macedonia, the country's tourism minister, Elena Kontoura, said that Greece as a whole expects to exceed the 10 percent increase in foreign tourist arrivals recorded last year in 2018.
In particular, Western Greece, which includes the northwestern part of the Peloponnese peninsula and the western part of mainland Greece, expects that it will be able to achieve record figures thanks to the activity of the tourist markets of France, Germany, Russia, Poland, Ukraine and Belarus.
"We expect a new record in tourist flow. In 2017, we recorded an increase in tourist flow at Araxos Airport by 22%, at Aktion Airport by 21%, at Patras Port by 12% and at Katakolon Port by 15%. Tourism is of particular importance for the development of the Western Greece region, so we will intensify our efforts in this direction," added Apostolos Katsifaras.
The regional governor also announced that information offices at ports and airports in Western Greece will be operational by the coming summer.
