Qatar Enters Russian Market

A Qatari tourism office has opened in Moscow. The country intends to strengthen its position on the Russian market and attract more tourists from Russia.

“We want Russian travelers to discover Qatar and learn more about its tourism opportunities. According to him, the main focus in promoting the destination will be on family holidays, sports and mice tourism. It should be noted that in 2019 the country will host the World Weightlifting Championships, and in 2022 Qatar received the right to host the FIFA World Cup.

It is also planned to pay special attention to interaction with the tourism industry - familiarization trips, road shows, training of travel agents through the online program TAWASH QTA, available in Russian, will be held.

According to representatives of the Qatar Tourism Authority, if demand for travel to Qatar increases, the issue of expanding transportation from Russian regions may be considered. Qatar Airways currently operates 28 weekly flights to Doha from Moscow and St. Petersburg.
