US hotel to pay guests to give up smartphones and alarm clocks

 

A New York hotel is offering discounts to guests who agree to surrender their phones for the duration of their stay, according to The Travel.

The James New York NoMad Hotel offered its guests a way to reduce their stay costs. If guests agree to provide all their If you present electronic gadgets to the concierge, you'll receive a 10% discount for each night of your stay. It's important to note that this applies to all devices: laptops, mobile phones, tablets, and even pagers, if you have one.

The hotel's special offer is called Digital Detox. Guests who receive this discount will also have to forgo their television and alarm clock. However, hotel representatives promised that they will not deprive guests of artificial lighting.  

To receive the promotional price of $299 per night (19,600 rubles), guests will also have to agree to live without all the conveniences of the digital age and, for example, opt for paper newspapers, which will be delivered to their door each morning. Meditation sessions are also included in the price.

The James New York NoMad Hotel isn't the only New York hotel trying to encourage people to ditch their cell phones. For example, the Mandarin Oriental offers guests a special wellness package. It includes a massage therapist focusing on the upper back and neck. This massage helps relieve tension and dizziness, which are common among heavy laptop and smartphone users.

American restaurants are also participating in similar promotions. Sushi Lounge in New Jersey offers a 20% discount on Tuesdays for guests who surrender their phones to the waiter. Lebro's, an Italian restaurant in New York City, offers a 10% discount every Sunday to diners who place their mobile devices in a special basket at the door.
