Emirates to supply Airbus A380 for second Moscow flight and offer discount on Dubai tickets

Emirates Airlines plans to deploy its largest Airbus A380 aircraft on a second Dubai-Moscow route this spring. This aircraft will thus operate two of Emirates' three daily flights on this route, according to Travel.ru.

Currently, the Airbus A380 operates only one flight per day—an evening flight from Dubai and an overnight flight from Moscow. Starting March 1, it will also be used for the daytime flight. The morning flight, which will be added to the schedule for the first time on October 25, will remain with the smaller Boeing 777-300.

The winter schedule features departures from Dubai at 3:05, 9:15, and 16:15, arriving in Moscow (Domodedovo Airport) at 7:25, 13:45, and 20:40, respectively. Return flights depart at 10:35, 17:10, and 23:50, arriving in Dubai at 16:50, 23:25, and 6:15. The first of these flights is operated on a Boeing 777, the second on a Boeing 777 until February 28 and on an Airbus A380 from March 1, and the third is always an Airbus A380.

As a reminder, Emirates also sells tickets for two daily flydubai flights on the same route, but to other Moscow airports. The flight to Vnukovo will use a Boeing 737 MAX 8 starting in January; it has already been operating on the Sheremetyevo route since last year.

In 2014, Emirates planned to fly twice daily to Moscow with an Airbus A380, but these plans were put on hold due to the economic crisis in Russia, which led to a decline in demand for tourist flights. Demand has increased in the last year and a half, driven by the abolition of visa requirements for Russian citizens traveling to the UAE. Last winter, Emirates finally managed to deploy the Airbus A380 on two flights, but this option lasted just under four months—from October 1, 2017, to January 22 of this year. Then, the Boeing 777 was reinstated for the daytime service.

Emirates is currently offering a discounted fare for roundtrip flights from Moscow to Dubai: 19,423 rubles. Tickets are on sale until October 25th, with travel available until April 15th. Tickets must be purchased at least 60 days in advance. The minimum stay in Dubai is five days or until the following Sunday, with departures from Moscow on Friday or Saturday (and returns on Saturday or Sunday) being more expensive. Tickets are non-refundable, but exchanges are possible for a €200 fee plus a surcharge up to the current fare. Aeroflot currently offers a similar, cheaper offer on this route: from 14,135 rubles roundtrip.
