Football fans will be able to use the Troika card instead of the Podorozhnik card.

During the FIFA World Cup, hotels in Moscow and St. Petersburg will begin selling combined "Troika/Podorozhnik" public transport cards. This was reported on the Moscow Mayor's official website.

As stated by the head of the Department of Transport Maxim Liksutov, head of the road infrastructure development program, said fans and tourists attending the World Cup will be able to purchase combined Troika/Podorozhnik travel cards directly at hotel check-in desks in Moscow and St. Petersburg. For convenience, the card will be pre-loaded with a certain number of trips.

The combined Troika/Podorozhnik travel card is valid on all modes of public transportation in both cities. Currently, over 20 hotels in Moscow and over 10 in St. Petersburg have already signed agreements to distribute the cards, with more expected to follow. According to M. Liksutov, the card will be especially convenient for fans planning to attend World Cup matches in both Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Interestingly, fans can use public transportation completely free of charge in all 11 Russian cities hosting World Cup matches. However, free bus and metro travel will only be available on matchdays along competition routes, meaning from airports and train stations to fan zones and stadiums. Therefore, purchasing a Troika/Podorozhnik card will be a valuable option for those planning to diversify their stay in the two capitals on non-matchdays.
