Saratov Airlines is ceasing operations. Work is currently underway to organize passenger transportation on additional flights operated by other Russian airlines. This was reported by Interfax, citing information from the Russian Ministry of Transport.
On Wednesday, May 30, Rosaviatsiya revoked Saratov Airlines' air operator certificate. This action followed the expiration of the carrier's deadline to address the issues identified during inspections.
Investigations began after the February 2018 plane crash. According to Rosaviatsia, the airline demonstrated a complete lack of responsibility in safety matters, a perfunctory approach to resolving discrepancies, and a lack of proper oversight by its management. The day before, Saratov Airlines' website announced the cancellation of all flights after May 29.
In light of the current situation, the Russian Ministry of Transport held a task force meeting, which decided to organize the evacuation of Saratov Airlines passengers. Some of them have already been reportedly transported from Antalya to Samara. Additional flights are currently being organized to transport the airline's passengers. These primarily cover the Moscow-Saratov and St. Petersburg-Saratov routes.
Officials promise to transport all Saratov Airlines customers with tickets departing on or before June 13. Other passengers will be given the opportunity to return their tickets, including non-refundable ones. Rosaviatsiya is currently setting up a hotline. You can call +7 (499) 231-63-88. Information on the procedure and rules for returning tickets and receiving refunds will be available on the Transport Clearing House website.
