
The international "Circle of Light" festival will be held in Moscow from September 21 to 25. Top light and music show artists from 16 countries will present over 30 performances at various venues across the capital, according to the official website of the Moscow Mayor.
Eighth Moscow The international "Circle of Light" festival kicks off this coming Friday, September 21. Over the course of five days, professional light artists from Bulgaria, Germany, India, Indonesia, Spain, Italy, China, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Romania, Finland, France, Chile, Switzerland, and Japan will present multimedia performances to Muscovites and visitors.
The show will take place at seven venues across the capital. On September 21, 22, and 23, spectators will witness the "Carnival of Lights" at the Grebnoy Canal in Krylatskoye. Around 300 fountains and over 160 fire torches will be featured. The organizers of this unique and vibrant event aim to be included in the Guinness Book of World Records. On the final day of the festival, a pyrotechnic show dedicated to the Year of Japan in Russia will take place at the venue.
Another festival zone will be located on Theater Square. The main show will be dedicated to the gladiator Spartacus. Audiences will also be treated to the light novellas "Celestial Mechanics" and "Timeless." The highlight of the venue will be a huge curved panoramic screen, which will be transformed from the facades of the Bolshoi, Maly, and Russian Academic Youth Theaters.
Another part of the "Circle of Light" festival will unfold in front of the Victory Museum, where viewers will see a film about Soviet military engineers and a show about Moscow. The museum's façade will also be an integral part of the performance. At the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve, visitors will be transported to a fairytale world and will see the Lukomorye region come to life. Visitors to Tsaritsyno Park will be treated to a light installation about the world of the future using augmented reality. Festival events will also be held at the Mir Theatre and Concert Hall on Tsvetnoy Boulevard and at the Digital October Center, near the Kropotkinskaya metro station.
All light and sound shows will take place in the evening. Admission to the festival venues is free.
Light and music events are regularly held outside of Russia. For example, in Helsinki, the traditional "Powers of Light" festival kicks off annually at the start of the long night season. This year, you can enjoy the dazzling show in the Finnish capital from October 6th to 10th. From October 5th to 14th, Berlin will host one of the world's most famous light festivals. From November 16th to 19th, building facades, bridges, and monuments in Riga will be transformed into works of light art. The "Riga Shines" festival will take place there during this time.
