
Euromonitor International, a marketing research company, has compiled a ranking of the most popular cities among tourists in 2017.
Experts analyzed inbound tourism data for 100 cities worldwide. The statistics only included foreign tourists. guests arriving by any means of transport except cruise ships.
Hong Kong was the most popular city last year, attracting 25.7 million international visitors. Bangkok came in second, welcoming 23.3 million in the first 12 months of 2017. London ranked third, attracting 19.8 million travelers. Experts note that Brexit, which led to lower hotel and apartment prices, played a significant role in London's growth.
The top ten most attractive cities for tourism also included Singapore, Macau, Dubai, Paris, New York, Shenzhen and Kuala Lumpur.
Moscow ranked 49th. According to Euromonitor International, 4.63 million tourists visited the Russian capital. St. Petersburg, with 2.86 million foreign visitors, ranked 73rd.
