Bulgaria has another reason to refuse entry

Starting August 1, all foreign citizens banned from entering the Schengen area will be barred from entering Bulgaria. This was reported by Russkaya Bulgaria, citing the press service of the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Bulgaria will refuse entry and stay on its territory to citizens of states, non-EU citizens who were previously banned from entering and residing in Schengen countries. This change comes into force on August 1. This ban is based on the EU Council decision regarding the application of Schengen legislation by Bulgaria.

According to the Republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs, entry will be denied in all cases where the Schengen Information System (SIS) displays a signal prohibiting entry into the European Union. Furthermore, all citizens of non-EU countries currently in Bulgaria who are denied entry into the Schengen area face deportation.

It should be added that entry bans to Schengen countries may be imposed for knowingly providing false information or presenting forged documents, such as income certificates or invitations to the country. A ban may also be imposed if a visitor to the EU previously violated the terms of their stay in a foreign country during a previous trip.
