Three weeks before the start of the school year, travel search engine KAYAK.ru compiled a list of the 15 most affordable foreign destinations, as well as the cheapest Russian resorts where you can still find a bit of August warmth.
The study took into account Round-trip flight searches, hotel searches, and clicks on KAYAK.ru made between January 1, 2017, and August 8, 2017, for travel between August 2, 2017, and August 27, 2017. Average flight prices are based on a round-trip economy class ticket per person, and average hotel prices are based on a nightly rate for a double-occupancy room. Prices are subject to change and vary.
So, The most affordable foreign destinations in the last days of August turned out to be the resorts of Bulgaria. Varna (average 12,322 rubles) and Burgas (average 16,488 rubles) topped the list of budget destinations in August. Incidentally, the cost of a night in ¾-star hotels in Varna (from 4,753 rubles) and Burgas (3,931 rubles) also ranked among the top.
However, withthe most affordable in terms of cost of living Phuket, Thailand, has become the hottest destination. A night in a similar hotel there costs an average of 3,755 rubles.
It is interesting that among the 15 most budget-friendly destinations the absolute leader in the number of destinations in the ranking Spain ended up with the lowest flight prices. The ranking includes four Spanish cities with the lowest flight prices: Alicante (average 18,248 rubles), Malaga (19,656 rubles), Barcelona (19,773 rubles), and Palma de Mallorca (average 24,467 rubles).
Greece became the second most affordable — three Greek cities made it into the rating: Thessaloniki (17,602 rubles), Rhodes (20,771 rubles) and Heraklion (21,944 rubles).
For those who don't plan to leave the country and want to support the domestic tourism industry, there's also good news: vacationing at Russian seaside resorts at the end of August is quite affordable. So, a ticket to Sochi will cost from 11,207 rubles. — less than the most affordable international destination. A ticket to Anapa will cost slightly more, averaging 13,583 rubles. And a flight to Gelendzhik, another resort in the Krasnodar Krai, will cost Russian tourists from 15,138 rubles. Meanwhile, of the three Russian resorts mentioned, Gelendzhik has the most affordable hotels. A night in a ¾-star hotel sharing a double room in August will cost an average of 3,227 rubles.

This summer has been stingy with warmth and sunny days, so it's time to enjoy it one last time and head to the seaside before the start of the school year."
