Aeroflot to fly to Phuket more often

Aeroflot plans to increase the number of flights from Moscow to the Thai resort island of Phuket by 50 percent. Instead of the current seven times a week, the carrier will fly to Phuket 10 times a week during the winter peak season, reports Travel.ru.

Unlike the current daily flight, which departs from Moscow at night and from Phuket in the afternoon, the new flight, scheduled only on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, will depart from Moscow in the morning and from Thailand at night. Like the first flight in the winter schedule, it will be operated by Aeroflot's largest aircraft, the Boeing 777.

From October 28 to March 29, this flight departs Moscow (Sheremetyevo Airport) at 6:15 a.m., arriving in Phuket at 7:15 p.m. Return departure is at 9:00 p.m., arriving in Moscow at 3:10 a.m. The existing daily flight departs Moscow at 9:10 p.m., arrives in Phuket at 10:20 a.m., returns at 12:10 p.m., and arrives in Moscow at 6:15 p.m.

The new flight, among other things, could be convenient for connections with Aeroflot's European routes. It's worth noting that the increased flight frequency only applies to the winter season, when demand for flights to Thailand is highest. Next year's summer schedule, which takes effect on March 31, will continue to include only one flight (departing from Moscow at 6:50 PM and from Phuket at 10:45 AM, on a smaller Airbus A330).

As a reminder, Aeroflot has also planned to increase flight frequency by 50% on another Thai route in its winter schedule—to the capital, Bangkok. The company has already opened ticket sales for a third daily flight, also scheduled from October 28 to March 30. As with the Phuket flight, this flight will depart in the morning from Moscow and overnight from Bangkok.
