Two Croatian hotel operators ready to sell

The Croatian State Centre for Enterprise Restructuring and Privatisation (CERP) is inviting investors to participate in a tender for the sale of controlling stakes in two Croatian hotel operators.

Thus, CERP intends to sell a 55.8 percent stake in Hoteli Makarska and a 70.74 percent stake in Jadran Crikvenica. Specifically, the agency will sell 621,086 state-owned shares in Hoteli Makarska, worth $19.1 million, and 34.8 million shares in Jadran Crikvenica, worth about $53.6 million.

The deadline for submitting documents for participation in tenders is November 13, 2017. It is worth noting that the state tried to sell two groups of hotels even earlier, but so far no buyers have been found.

"Interested investors are invited to submit letters of intent to purchase shares in joint-stock companies. Letters of intent are submitted for each company individually," the CERP statement said.

By the way, Croatia is quite active in the hotel investment market. Thus, just last month, Austrian HETA Asset Resolution, a subsidiary of HETA Group, sold a hotel in Istrian Hotels/Tampten. The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

The deal included the sale of luxury villas and apartments without furniture and an 18-hole golf course. The second stage of the deal was completed in late September 2017. The entire transaction is expected to be completed within the next few weeks.

As TRN reported earlier, 817 million euros were invested in Croatian tourism this year, and the country's authorities see the next year as even more optimistic.
