“A decision on the new hotel star rating standards will be made in early December, and they will be implemented within a year,” he said, according to the Al-Watan publication.
According to the publication, the tourism committee recommended introducing new star rating standards as soon as possible to develop the hotel industry in the country.
In turn, the head of the tourism committee, Amr Sidki, noted that the new standards should pay more attention to hotel staff and their training.
In addition, the director of the hotel department of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism, Abdel Fattah al-Asi, added that the new standards should help regulate the situation where many hotels awarded themselves 5*, but in fact corresponded to the three-star category.
