How the market reacted to the complete cancellation of the flight program to Egypt

Tour operator Pegas Touristik announced the cancellation of its program to Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada, starting from June 9. The tourist retail sector reacted ambiguously to the supplier's decision, but there is no global discontent in the market.

As the company noted "Pegas Touristik", until the set deadline, June 9, the programs will be carried out in full, tourists can not worry. For those clients whose departure dates were scheduled for later dates, the player will return the money in full exactly when the tourists make such a request.

The tour operator's decision has caused a mixed reaction in the market. On the one hand, according to Alzira Gureeva, director of Tropic Land, after Rostourism issued a statement regarding Egypt, in which it called the sale of tours to this country illegal, such an outcome was obvious. Let us recall that at the end of May, after the death of a child in a hotel in Hurghada, the agency issued a statement in which it stated that "the sale of a tourism product, including the transportation of tourists from the territory of the Russian Federation by air to cities in Egypt, with the exception of the city of Cairo, does not comply with the provisions of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of November 8, 2015, No. 553 "On certain measures to ensure national security of the Russian Federation and protect citizens of the Russian Federation from criminal and other illegal actions."

On the other hand, notes Tatyana Martynova, manager of the Safari Tour company, the player's decision was unexpected and shocked many. "After all, Egypt had already disappeared from the tour operator's booking system and there were discussions about ending the flight program, however, this information was denied by the tour operator, which gave us false confidence. I think tourists will no longer pay attention to this destination."

And in the company "HotTourist" the situation, according to its director, is catastrophic. "One of our tourists bought a tour to Egypt with a flight at the end of June, in order to meet her classmates who are flying to the same hotel only from Ukraine. This meeting was extremely important for her, because they had not seen each other for a long time. We spent a long time choosing a hotel, coordinating all the details. And yesterday we received a message from the tour operator that the tour was cancelled. To be honest, we are in shock and I still do not understand how to properly present this information to my client. So far I have not told her anything, I wrote a letter to "Pegas Touristik" asking to find a way out of the situation. I really hope for a positive outcome of the situation," said Vladimir Kuleshov, the head of "HotTourist".

However, there are also positively-minded experts among retailers. Thus, according to Georgy Pogosov, managing director of the travel agency network "Marselina Travel", it is possible that "such a decision could be a 'wake-up call' on the eve of the official launch of direct flights. After all, one must dream, too," the expert concluded on an optimistic note.
