Russian tourists are increasingly choosing extreme holiday destinations: according to representatives of Yakut travel agencies, this winter the demand for trips to the cold pole in the Oymyakon district in the north of the region, where negative temperatures reach 60 degrees, has shown serious growth.
"The peak is at the end of December - beginning of January with the arrival of 50-degree frosts. It should be noted that [there is] great interest in extreme tours to the pole of cold in the Oymyakon district. This year, we have recorded high demand for tours, but we will sum up the final results at the end of the season," a TASS correspondent was told in one of the region's travel agencies.
At the same time, as the owner of the guest house in the village of Oymyakon, Tamara Vasilyeva, noted, guests from other countries also come to the region, including Colombia, China, the Czech Republic, etc.
