Travel service Tutu.ru found out in which cities and countries Russian tourists waited out the cold period. That is, the time between the flight "there" and "back" was from three weeks. The service's specialists analyzed all sold air tickets from any city Russia with travel dates from December 1, 2018 to March 1, 2019.
As the company told the TRN portal, those who take a long vacation in winter prioritize foreign destinations. The share of such trips among foreign destinations is 7%, and within Russia - only 3%. This is quite logical: Russian cities are not suitable for wintering in warmth. The rating did not take into account flights to such CIS countries as Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, since with a high degree of probability people go to these countries not for wintering, but simply "home" or to visit relatives.
As expected, Thailand took first place in the rating. Also included in the rating were such Asian countries as Vietnam (7th place), India (9th place). But Indonesia did not make it into the top 10 countries, although many travelers fly to the island of Bali for the winter. This country is in 15th place.
Germany is in second place, and Armenia is in third place. The cheapest flights were to Armenia and Georgia (the average roundtrip ticket price is 12,200–12,800 rubles), and the most expensive were to the USA, Thailand, and Vietnam (at least 43,500 rubles roundtrip).
Half of the top 10 destinations are flights to Asian countries. The top three most popular long-haul routes include flights from Moscow to Bangkok and Phuket, as well as the Novosibirsk-Bangkok flight. In addition to Asian cities, the top ten included flights from Moscow to Yerevan, Tel Aviv, Hurghada, London, as well as the Sochi-Yerevan flight.
In addition, Moscow residents fly on long vacations to the Philippines, the Dominican Republic, the Seychelles, Montenegro, and New Zealand. And among residents of large Russian cities, Thailand has become the most popular (with arrival in Bangkok). Residents of Moscow, Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Magadan, Khabarovsk, Nizhnevartovsk, Sochi, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and Kazan prefer to spend the winter in Thailand.
The majority of the rating is flights from cold regions to Moscow (except Simferopol - Moscow). And Muscovites themselves fly to Mineralnye Vody and Simferopol to breathe air.
It is interesting that at the end of the rating (in 71st place) is the Moscow-Sochi route, which is one of the three most popular destinations in Russia according to the results of 2018. This is probably due to the fact that Muscovites do not go to Sochi for such a long time. As statistics have shown, residents of St. Petersburg (27th place) and Yekaterinburg (48th place) fly to Sochi for the winter more often.
