A new agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and the Lao People's Democratic Republic on the mutual abolition of visas for citizens of both countries traveling for tourism purposes has entered into force.
According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russian citizens may stay in Laos without a visa for up to 30 days. The purpose of their stay in the country cannot be work, study, or permanent residence.
As a reminder, previously, Russian citizens planning to visit Laos for up to 30 days did not need to obtain a visa in advance; one was issued at the airport upon arrival.
When crossing the Lao border, you must present a passport valid for at least six months upon entry. If you plan a longer visit, you must obtain a visa in advance at the Lao Embassy in Moscow or at embassies and consulates in neighboring countries.
